A Sunday Drive

Life is just more fun with my little sister around! Renee arrived in Budapest with the fam and Fullerton team in June (more on that later), and is staying for several more weeks of Summer fun. Lately, I've been getting a real kick out of watching Renee 'discover' the Hungarian ways of life. It's amazing how much more I see with her extra set of eyes to observe the world around us.

One rule that I've determined since living here: NEVER BE WITHOUT YOUR CAMERA.

On the way home from the InterSpar grocery store yesterday, we decided to take a detour around town and enjoy a little Sunday drive. This is the picture that inspired such an adventure.

A little drive through my town of Diosd was a must--what other little 'gems' (or not so little) might be lurking around the next bend? Here are the highlights...

A little artistic flair at my neighbor's house. You probably won't see these lovely yard decorations in the next edition of Better Homes and Gardens.

However, some of the most rundown homes are the most quaint. (This one's for you, Boni.)

Hedgehogs are very common here, so I'm told, but this was our first personal sighting!

Now THIS was a trickier shot to capture. It's not easy to drive by in stealth mode with U2 blaring out the windows of my bright red car. But we made four passes to get this photo. This is a picture of typical gardening attire--and yes, I DO mean the speedo.

The high-quality aesthetics that make the OBU cringe. Ugly IS international, Mom . . . no thanks to the Communist 'artistic' influence of solid ol' concrete.
And last but not least, this lovely pup welcomed us up the street as we pulled into the driveway. My neighbor's dog is just one of the howling nightmares of the town. One starts and they all go! Still looking for a picture of the dreadlock dogs, a special Hungarian breed that always makes you wonder how long it's been since their last bath. And that, my friends, concludes our invigorating tour of downtown Diosd on a Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for upcoming editions such as "Occupational Summer Dresscodes" including the construction workers near my office--what IS it with speedoes and boots around here??!?!

We'll make sure that the next construction team doesn't take speedos! TMI!

Shield your eyes! :D Not sure we can wait for your next edition as Occupational Summer Dresscodes. May be too much for us.
Take care!

Speedos and boots!?! Now that's just wrong. Of course, speedos are wrong under practically ANY circumstance.

An unmistakable sign of overconfidence.
